Like the first man on the moon, our Armstrong shirt should be the first shirt in your wardrobe. It’s a simple, classic point collar dress shirt in a brilliant white, 100% Egyptian cotton 2-ply poplin fabric. It’s a no nonsense dress shirt for the guy who wants his work to speak for itself.
Our Armstrong shirt is a member of a series of dress shirts that are designed to hearken back to the time of the Space Race and the era of the iconic American worker. The shirts come with our new American point collar and feature our signature convertible cuffs and gussets.
- H&C point collar - classic American conservative in a collar
- Contrast gussets
- 100% two-ply Egyptian Cotton
- 120 thread count (yarn count)
- Environmentally safe fabric - with easy care finish for easy ironing
- H&C convertible cuffs - can be worn with buttons, or with cuff links
- Single-needle construction
- Box placket
Poplin, sometimes called broadcloth, is a plain weave which means the threads alternately cross over and then under each other. This results in a very smooth and durable fabric that has an almost silky hand feel, particularly with higher thread counts. Also, poplins look very crisp when ironed.
We make shirts crafted for the height of your torso (short, average, tall) and your overall build (skinny, slim, athletic, or broad). Our shirts aren't made for the masses. They're made for you.
Dylan, above, wears an Average/Slim.
The Shirt For Any Occasion
This shirt is great to wear to work or on weekends. It looks good with and without a tie and the fabric is thick without being too heavy. You won't regret buying this shirt.
Impeccable Quality, Incredible Value
I've been searching for years for a quality white shirt that actually fits, and was shocked at how well-proportioned and affordable this shirt is. In addition to fitting well, the Armstrong's fabric is thick enough that an undershirt is concealed, yet it isn't so thick that I can't wear it on a hot D.C. summer day. The only drawback to the Armstrong for me is that the sleeves are a bit long, and peek out from under my jacket more than I'd like. Regardless, I still wear it frequently, and am happy to have it in my quiver of other Hugh & Crye shirts.
the "perfect" shirt
In my opinion the Armstrong is the perfect "basic" shirt. I use this as my "work" shirt. Simple and basic but absolutely perfect. Material is nice & wears like a dream. It's so nice I bought it twice. Highly recommend!
Absolute perfect fit and EXACTLY what I was looking for.
I just purchased the Armstrong shirt a few days ago and I couldn't be happier. I'm stationed in Oklahoma (originally from AZ) and there aren't many options for finding this style of clothing so I took a gamble on the sizing guide provided by Hugh & Crye and WOW. The shirt was an absolute perfect fit and EXACTLY what I was looking for. I'm about 5'7 and 145 lbs. and the sizing guide was dead on (Average/Skinny) . The shirt looks amazing, great quality, and an overall perfect look. I'll definitely be purchasing more from Hugh & Crye in the future!
