A Haitian born businessman, William de Fleurville worked as the man under the stove top hat. After first meeting Abraham Lincoln in New Salem, Fleurville moved to Springfield, Illinois and opened his barber shop across from the State House - a place that would become for Lincoln a near second home. The President's barber for 24 years, Fleurville's relationship with Lincoln ran much deeper than hair. Lincoln handled Fleurville’s legal affairs and when the President left for Washington, he entrusted the barber with care of his property and affairs.
The Florville features a bold red, white and blue pattern with our signature cutaway collar in 120 thread count poplin. Egyptian cotton is a particular variety that is grown in only a few other places. It is renowned as some of the best in the world. It has an extra long staple, which means it has longer fibers, resulting in a silkier, more durable fabric.Poplin, sometimes called broadcloth, is a plain weave which means the threads alternately cross over and then under each other. This results in a very smooth and durable fabric that has an almost silky hand feel, particularly with higher thread counts. Also, poplins look very crisp when ironed.
